Course Objectives and Skills Acquired

Semester I

  • Plan and execute jobs as per specifications using basic fitting operations such as marking, sawing, chiseling, filing, drilling, tapping, and grinding.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of different machines like Drill Machines, Power Saws, and Bench Grinders.
  • Prepare various cutting tools for turning operations with high accuracy.
  • Set machining parameters for milling operations such as plain, face, angular, form, gang, and straddle milling.

Semester II

  • Produce high-accuracy components using surface and cylindrical grinding (accuracy up to ± 0.01 mm).
  • Set components and machine parameters for producing taper/ angular components and ensure proper assembly.
  • Produce screw and multi-start threaded components while maintaining precise machining parameters.
  • Measure components using limit gauges, sine bars, and toolmakers' gauges to ensure machine tool accuracy.

Semester III

  • Set up CNC turning centers, prepare part programs, and manufacture components as per technical drawings.

Semester IV

  • Operate CNC machining centers, prepare part programs, and produce complex components with precision.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of Drilling Machines, Milling Machines, and Lathes.
  • Complete revision, project work, and final examinations.
